One of the most asked questions I get when it comes to autoresponders, is ‘What autoresponder should I get?’ Most of my clients don’t have a list when they start, but their intentions are to grow their list fast! After all, any online or offline marketer will tell you, ‘The money is in the list’.
That statement is very true. Whatever you do, don’t dismiss it as being a flippant statement. If you have a product or service and you have a list of people that trust you and are willing to buy from you…your list is worth a lot of money to you.
3 Popular Autoresponder Services
I am going to cover the 3 most common autoresponder services, as most people have heard of:
- Aweber
- GetResponse and
- MailChimp.
I personally use two of the above services. Aweber and GetResponse, however I have recently begun to use GetResponse more as it is so easy to use! I have never used MailChimp for myself, but have set it up for other clients.
MailChimp may be free and appear like a good thing when you sign up…but just remember with a free account you can’t setup email sequences…which is what I love an autoresponder for!
Here is a table to show the price comparisons. These are the ‘per month’ prices (at the time of writing this post.)
If you pay yearly (which I do) it is so much cheaper again!
- GetResponse has an 18% annual discount and
- Aweber has a 15% yearly discount.
So again, not much of a difference between the two. In the table below, the numbers 500, 2,500 etc., are the amount of subscribers you have in your autoresponder account.
Autoresponder | Emails | 500 | 2500 | 5000 | 10,000 | 25,000 |
Aweber | Unlimited | $19 | $29 | $49 | $69 | $149 |
GetResponse | Unlimited | $15 | $25 | $45 | $65 | $145 |
MailChimp | Unlimited | $10 | $30 | $50 | $75 | $150 |
I have created the comparison chart using unlimited email sends, however MailChimp does have a free plan where you can have up to 2,000 subscribers and send only 12,000 emails. Now I know this sounds attractive and if you think your list will remain small and you won’t send too many emails that’s fine.
Now what if you have 2,000 subscribers and you need to send more than 6 emails in a month? You may think that is a lot of emails…but it isn’t.
This is one of the reasons I like to recommend Aweber or GetResponse. I can send as many as I want, whenever I want. Plus as my lists have grown, I am actually better off per month as Aweber and GetResponse are cheaper than MailChimp.
Conclusion
So as you can see pricing structure isn’t too different and features are comparable too. Aweber used to have the best features, although GetResponse has just as many fantastic features now.
As I said I use both Aweber and Getresponse and the majority of my clients have chosen Aweber in the past, although a few are now choosing GetResponse. Whatever you decide, an autoresponder service is one of the best investments you’ll make in your business.
